Well, I have mentioned in a few conversations that my friend Judy challenged me and another crafting budding to do a shared Art Journal project. She asked us to make pages to explore and attempt and create with new techniques. And this is what I have been trying to do. This is the first picture of a journal page that I am posting because it is the most complicated craft piece I have made in a very very very long time. And, it is something I did not imagine I would do. But I have been inspired by so many of you here who do mixed media projects, I wanted to stretch and do something a bit more than my usual.
So, to start, I was inspired by a tag journal post and then by a mixed media frame with a wonderful quote, which I have used here. Here are links to both of these beautiful projects:
These artists used ink sprays, glazes, foils, and chipboard pieces, which I do not own. And my journey was to see what I could emulate with the products that I do own.
To start, I ink blended Vintage Photo DO over the flourish stencil and the entire page. I then used the Paste with the floral stencil and let dry. I applied Sketchprint Distress Ink as watercolor using a brush and dabbing around the flowers. I ink blended Vintage Photo DO and some Walnut Stain DO over that again til the colors were acceptable. Then I used a Versamark pen over the flowers and added gold embossing powder (to get a similar affect as the foil). I die cut the leaves (Lively), ink blended them with Walnut Stain DO, used thick embossing power and then gold embossing powder. The thick embossing powder does thicken the cardstock so it has a lot of depth. I die cut the branch (Airy) and ink blended with Vintage Photo DO. The sentiment was computer generated with American Typewriter font, cut and notched. Then everything was glued down with mat gel medium. To finish, I added a circular paper clip from my stash.
That's my journey. I hope you are enjoying your crafting journey as well and I hope it takes you to fun and unimaginable places that bring you satisfaction and joy. TFL

Only you can do so many different combos/techniques and come out with such a gorgeous piece! The gold accents are stunning. Punched border, perfect. The unique paper clip is an ingenious finishing touch!
